The Rancho Cucamonga Equestrian Patrol is a team of highly trained volunteers. They enhance vital crime prevention services and community awareness through proactive law enforcement principles, by being additional eyes and ears for law enforcement.

The RCEP Color Guard with Mayor Bill Alexander

Equestrian Patrol members do not take enforcement action, carry weapons or make arrests. All suspicious activity is reported to the local Police station by radio through the Sheriff's dispatch center.

The Equestrian Patrol Program is designed for the volunteer who has an interest in helping law enforcement and the community.

Activities of the Equestrian Patrol

  • Patrols approximately 150 miles of community and local feeder trails as well as associated public parks in the beautiful city of Rancho Cucamonga

  • Participates in local parades and community events

  • Participates in ALERT (Alta Loma Equine Rescue Team) training and events

  • Reports local and regional trail maintenance

  • Participates in public relations and neighborhood watch activities at local schools and shopping centers

  • Assists other police divisions including regular patrol, reserves, car program and regular citizen patrol events which may include:

    • Movies in the park

    • Art in the park

    • Business Expo

    • Neighborhood Watch

    • DUI Check Points

    • Car Patrols

    • Equestrian Shows

    • Provide clerical support to Rancho Cucamonga Station staff

    • Christmas Light traffic control

Program Goals

  • Reduce residential burglaries and thefts
  • Provide high police visibility in the business, shopping and residential areas of Rancho Cucamonga
